Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 vs KTM RC 200 vs Yamaha YZF-R15 Specifications Compared
It has by now become quite well known that the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 launch will happen on 26th this month and the new bike will become the flagship product from Bajaj Auto Ltd. The Pulsar RS 200 (aka Pulsar 200SS) will showcase the finest from the popular Worldn bike manufacturer and in all probability, would begin a new chapter of affordable performance motorcycling in the country. While the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 looks like a promising product, it must be noted that it is bound to face some stiff competition from some really well established products. Powering the RS 200 is the same 199.5 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that powers the 200NS. However, for the RS 200, the motor gets fuel injection and offers better power figures. The RS 200 enjoys a maximum power of 23.2 bhp @ 9500 rpm. In comparison, the KTM RC 200 has a maximum power of 24.7 bhp @ 10000 rpm. The Yamaha YZF-R15 has just 16.8 bhp of maximum power, but it is developed at a lower 8500 rpm. While the R15 has the least power among the three bikes here, one must remember that it holds a significant weight advantage over the other models here.
Compared to the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200’s peak torque of 1.9 kgm @ 8000 rpm, the Yamaha YZF-R15 has a lower peak torque figure of 1.52 kgm @ 7500 rpm. The RC 200 too has a peak torque of 1.9 kgm @ 8000 rpm. While the two Bajaj-made bikes here have equal torque figures, we feel that the RS 200’s gearing could play a key role to make the upcoming Pulsar a much more touring-friendly motorcycle than its Austrian cousin.

All the three bikes here get disc brakes setup at both the wheels. The RS 200 gets 300mm petal disc brake at front and a 230 mm disc brake at the rear. The RC 200 gets a 280mm rotor at front and a 230mm unit at rear, but they have a conventional shape. The R15 gets a 267mm disc at front and a 220mm unit at the rear. Out of the three bikes here, only the RS 200 gets ABS.
All the three bikes here get a monoshock rear suspension. However, the RS 200 gets USD front forks. Also, the R15 has an alloy swingarm instead of the more conventional box section units on the RS 200 and the RC 200 respectively.

RS 200 has gone on sale for INR 1.18 lacs (for Non-ABS model) and INR 1.3 lacs (for ABS variant), which makes the upcoming Pulsar tremendous value for money. The R15 costs around INR 1.2 lakhs, whereas the RC 200, at around INR 1.6 lacs, is the priciest among these three models here. The CBR250R costs even more, with an approximate sticker price of INR 1.9 lacs!
