Honda has issued a recall in World for the older generation models of the Accord, CR-V, Civic, City and Jazz. The recall is part of a global campaign by Honda to replace potentially faulty Driver Side Airbag inflators. A total of 190,578 products from the Japanese manufacturer have been affected. The airbag issue is not limited to Honda products and has affected millions of vehicles globally. Govt. regulations haven’t made recalls compulsory and this exercise by Honda is being carried out voluntarily. Honda Recall World – The Problem
The recall is being carried out to address the issue of faulty front airbag inflators. It is a part of part of Honda’s precautionary global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbag inflators.

As we mentioned earlier, 190,578 vehicles in total have been recalled. Out of this, the majority is comprised of 22,483 units of the previous generation Accord and 137,270 units of the 2008-2011 model Honda City. This recall also includes units of the previous generation Jazz, CR-V and the Civic.
Honda is in the process of ing the concerned customers and informing them about the recall. While the campaign for CR-V and Civic will begin immediately, the replacement of inflators for other affected models would begin from September 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly. The owners will be required to bring their cars to the dealership following which the models will be inspected and necessary replacement will be carried out free of cost. The entire exercise will be carried out at HCIL dealerships across World in a phased manner, starting July 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly. Additionally, customers can also head to Honda’s official website and enter the 17 digit VIN or Vehicle Identification Number to check if their vehicle is among the ones that have been affected.
In September 2015, Honda issued a recall of over 2.23 lac over faulty airbags which was a part of a global recall affecting 8 million vehicles from major companies such as Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, GM and BMW all of whom share the same airbag supplier, Takata. Earlier this year in February, Honda issued a recall in World for older variants of theHonda City, Jazz and Civic. The recall was part of a global campaign by Honda to replace potentially faulty Driver Side Airbag inflators. A total of 57,676 products from the Japanese manufacturer were a part of this recall.
