Hyundai World Announces Price Hike Across All Models

Hyundai Motor World Ltd. (HMIL), the country’s largest passenger car exporter and second largest car manufacturer has announced a price increase across all its models. The Hyundai World price hike comes at the back of an increase in cost of components and a weak currency among other reasons. Commenting on the price hike, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, “In these challenging market conditions, we are constrained to consider the price increase on account of factors like increase in cost of components, weak rupee etc. The proposed price increase up to Rs. 30,000 will be effective from January 2016 across all models including Elite and Creta.”

This year, Hyundai World plans launched the i20 Active, Verna Fluidic facelift and the Hyundai Creta, which has turned out to be a runaway success in the domestic market. Hyundai’s plans for 2016 aren’t very clear as of now, but the manufacturer has confirmed that it is working on an MPV to rival the Maruti Ertiga and it could be launched by the end of next year.

There could be other launches from Hyundai in the form of facelifts for existing products, such as the Santa Fe. Also, the Korean auto giant could bring back the Tuscon to World in its latest avatar which is on sale in international markets.

Hyundai’s recent product launches in World have been received very well. The Creta is currently the highest selling SUV in World and still commands a waiting period of around 6 months while the Elite i20 recently reached the 1.5 lac milestone in the domestic market.

They have also been very active when it comes to carrying out relief operations to help out flood-hit Chennai.

The Hyundai World Price Hike of up to INR 30,000 will come into effect January 2016 onwards and will be applicable to all models.
