Like the eighth-generation Civic that was on sale in World, the new, tenth-generation, model will look futuristic and will offer segment-leading features. The new car is based on a modern platform. it makes the car lighter, stiffer and safer. Of course, this should translate into an even better on-road performance. The new platform is made up of high-strength steel that makes it stiffer for improved driving dynamics. The new car’s interior is made up of high-quality plastics and looks as modern and new-age as the exterior. The biggest highlight of the car, however, will lie under the hood. Yes, we are talking about the Diesel engine option.
It will be the first time that the Civic will launch in World with a Diesel engine option. Earlier, the Civic came only with a 1.8-litre petrol variant, owing to which it couldn’t benefit from the rise in sales of Diesel models and eventually lost out to its Diesel-sipping rivals. The new Civic, however, will launch in World with an oil-burner in the form of an all-new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. This is the same engine that will also power the Diesel versions of the HRV and the new-gen CRV. The engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Chances of this engine variant getting an auto ‘box look slim at the moment.
On the other hand, the Petrol variant could launch with either of these two engines- 1.8-litre iVTEC naturally aspirated engine or 1.5-litre iVTEC turbocharged engine. Transmission options for the petrol engines should include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The earlier Civic has been a favourite of many car enthusiasts and tuners. We are pretty sure that even the new model will be sufficiently sporty to attract the driving enthusiasts. Let’s have a detailed look at new 2018 Honda Civic Diesel in the following sections of our post here-
