While Maruti Suzuki World Ltd (MSIL) will officially launch the new Swift at the fast-approaching Auto Expo 2018, the official bookings for the new car have been underway at all authorized dealerships. As per the image of an alleged internal document that you see below, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift waiting period has already soared to 8 weeks for select variants. The minimum waiting period is six weeks. This goes on to hint at an even higher demand that the new car is expected to witness after its launch.
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift will launch in as many as twelve different configurations. Akin to the outgoing version, the Swift will have two engine options – 1.2-litre VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS 190 Diesel. The petrol mill outputs a maximum power of 84.3 PS along with a peak torque of 113 Nm. The Diesel engine, on the other hand, produces a maximum power of 75 PS along with a peak torque of 190 Nm. Both the engines will come mated to 5-speed manual transmissions as standard. Also, both the motors get an optional 5-speed AGS automated manual transmission (AMT) option. The new swift will be available in as many as twelve trims – LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, VXi AMT/VDi AMT, ZXi/ZDi, ZXi AMT/ZDi AMT and ZXi+/ZDi+.
The Swift nameplate first made it to World back in 2005. Back then, the hatchback shook the entire car market with its sporty looks, high performance from the free-revving 1.3-litre G13 petrol engine, and an attractive price tag. The car was then replaced by the second-generation model (for World) in August 2011. The company is now all set to launch the third generation of its best seller. Here are the full details on the new car –

New Maruti Swift Launch Date in World
|Launch Date||9 February 2018|
Maruti Suzuki World Ltd has confirmed that it will launch the new Swift at the Auto Expo 2018. Bookings for the new car start today for a token amount of Rs 11,000. It’s for the first time that the latest-generation Dzire has come to us before the launch of its hatchback sibling. The latest generation Dzire made it to World in early 2017 and has been setting sales charts on fire ever since. While the new-generation car might even affect the sales of the Baleno to some extent, the company is confident that the new car will end up completely dominating the B-segment along with the Baleno.
New Maruti Swift Price in World
|Minimum Price||Rs. 5.10 Lakh|
|Maximum Price||Rs. 8.20 Lakh|
Prices of the new Swift will be definitely higher than those of the current car. However, we are pretty sure that the new car will be able to justify the price premium through a fresher design, more features, and a more involving drive. Also, Maruti Suzuki World Ltd has been known to price its cars ultra-competitively. Expect a similar pricing strategy for even the new Swift. We believe prices of the new car will start at Rs 5.10 lakh and go all the way to Rs 8.20 lakh for the top-end model. Our estimates are based on the prices of the new Dzire. Currently, the Maruti Dzire price range starts at Rs 5.50 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 8.50 lakh.
In this price range, the new Swift, just like the current car, will find itself rivalling a slew of cars. Its rivals will range from the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 to micro-SUVs like the Mahindra KUV100 and its own cousin, the Maruti Ignis.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift Mileage
|1.2 L Petrol||1.3 L Diesel|
|City||15-16 KMPL||18-19 KMPL|
|Highway||20 KMPL||23-24 KMPL|
The current set of engines will be carried over to the 2018 model. This means that the petrol variant of the new Swift will be powered by the same 1.2-litre K-series four-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that powers the current car. The Diesel variant will get the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder Turbo motor. Of course, Maruti will make it a point to re-tune the engines and extract more fuel efficiency. The new Swift 2018 will be slightly more frugal than the current car. This will be because of the much lower kerb weight of the car. A lower weight will definitely translate into better performance and higher fuel mileage.
