The prevailing Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 employs the traditional design with more mature colour options like the Stone, Marine, Lightning, Flicker and Asphalt. The current bike offers its customers a more mature approach and the ape hangar type handlebar proves comfortable only over long journeys.

The upcoming Thunderbird 350X features new colour options albeit only on the tank and a thin line on the alloy wheels. Rest everything from the engine to the mudguards to the exhaust are all blacked-out. Similarly, even the headlight unit features a blacked out unit with the projector unit being surrounded by the LED daytime running light (DRL). The X series features alloy wheels and tubeless tyres and future X models to feature similar upgrades. The handlebar features a straight and narrower design aiding to urban commuting. The colour options on offer would be White and Red while its elder sibling features bright yellow and orange differentiating one from the other.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X vs Thunderbird 350 Specifications Comparison

The upcoming Thunderbird 350X carries over all the mechanical parts with the current Thunderbird 350. The 350X employs the same 346 cc single-cylinder engine that does its duty in the current Thunderbird 350. The engine churns out 19.8 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. Front features a 41mm telescopic suspension with 130mm of travel while the rear benefits from twin gas-charged shock absorbers with 80 mm worth of travel.

The new peppy coloured fuel tank holds 20 litres of fuel giving the Thunderbird 350X an edge when it comes to the range. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at each end and the front and rear disc brake spanning 280mm and 240mm in diameter respectively. No news of ABS being offered has been reported yet. The current Thunderbird 350 weighs 195 kg wet but the upcoming 350X is expected to weigh a couple of kilos less.

The current Royal Enfield Thunderbird retails for INR 1.48 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai. Royal Enfield did increase the price slightly when they launched the Bullet 350 Redditch edition. Similarly, the upcoming Thunderbird 350X is expected to retail for a slightly increased price of around INR 1.58 lakh ex-showroom. The company is expected to launch the Thunderbird 350X in January 2018 as several units have been spotted at certain dealerships and service centres.
