The BMW 6-series GT facelift will mainly see some minor cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior but it could see a range of new hybrid engines as well.
The BMW 6-series Gran Tourismo which was launched in World at the Auto Expo 2018 is due a mid-life facelift in the international market. A semi-camouflaged test mule of the BMW 6-series Gran Tourismo has been spotted testing for the first time in Southern Europe. The 6-series GT facelift from BMW will mainly include some cosmetic changes to the exterior and some feature upgrades on the inside. Like all new facelift’s from BMW, this too could see the inclusion of a hybrid engine.
The test mule just had the face and the rear covered in camouflage. The headlamp unit has been redesigned along with the DRLs which surprisingly resembles the DRLs from some Audis. Apart from that, the bumpers might be tweaked slightly and then there’s of course, the large kidney grille which is becoming a trademark in all BMWs now.
The rear of the BMW 6 series Grand Tourismo remains largely unchanged with this facelift. From the spy shots, it seems only the exhaust tips have been redesigned. The facelift is only a mild update and there’s no revolutionary change in its design. On the interiors of 6-series GT facelift , it is expected that it will share the updates with the new 5-series facelift. That could include minor revisions to the all-digital instrument cluster and and a software update to iDrive infotainment system. However, we would like to see BMW’s new interior design language also making way through these facelifts.
The BMW 6-series GT is currently powered by three set of engines – there’s a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 190bhp and 400Nm of torque; there’s a more powerful 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine with 265bhp and 620Nm of torque; and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with 250bhp and 400Nm of torque. All these engines are expected to recieve some minor updates to them but the bigger news is there could be the introduction of a range of hybrid engines from the 7 series.
The 2020 BMW 6-series GT facelift is expected to make its global debut sometime around 2020 with an World launch following soon. The current-gen 6-series GT is sold in World with price ranging from Rs 63.90 lakh to Rs 73.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelift will sure see a little increment in the price. The BMW 6-series GT goes against the likes of the Audi A5 in World.
