Ahead of the festive season, Datsun has launched the festive season special edition of the Redi-GO. The entry-level hatchback gets cosmetic upgrades and no mechanical changes. It continues with the same 0.8 Litre and 1.0 Litre petrol engine. The 0.8L variant is priced at Rs 3.58 Lakhs and the 1.0L variant is priced at Rs 3.85 Lakhs (ex-showroom Pan-World). It gets features such as rear parking sensors, driver seat airbags, optional AMT and Bluetooth connected infotainment system. Redi-GO comes in total 10 variants which starts from Rs 2.56 Lakhs up to Rs 4.12 Lakhs (ex-showroom Senegal). The entry-level hatchback competes with the likes of Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Alto.
The Datsun Redi-GO Festive season special edition comes in three colours – White, Silver, and Red. It comes with a roof wrap, refreshed body graphics and new front-rear bumper undercovers. Also, it gets the front signature red insert on the front grille and rear tailgate graphics. In the interiors, it gets red and black leather upholstery seats with accents on AC vents. Along with it, it also gets Rear Parking sensors with distance display device, satin chrome gear bezel, chrome inside door handles and carpet mats.
The Redi-GO comes with a 0.8L and 1.0L petrol engine. The 800cc engine produces 52 BHP of power and 72 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed Manual transmission. The 1000cc engine produces 68 BHP of power and 91 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT along with an optional 5-speed AMT.
Features onboard the Datsun Redi-GO include Bluetooth connected infotainment system with USB slot, Driver-side airbags, 3 AC vents on the dashboard, Rear Parking Sensor Assist, Digital indicator for RPM, range, Average and Gear Shift Indicators and optional AMT. The AMT variant comes with Dual-Drive Mode for switching between automated and manual modes and Rush-Hour Mode which helps in cruising in bumper-to-bumper traffic at 5-6 km/hr.
For the competition, it rivals against the other entry-level hatchbacks, which includes Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and 800 and Renault Kwid. It was the perfect competitor for the now defunct, Tata Nano. Currently, Datsun Redi-GO has an average position in the market. Despite giving many features in this price range, it fails to attract a lot of customers. The main reasons are because of its noisy engine and rather a scrunched-up appearance.
