MG Hector SUV- What do we know so far about this Tata Harrier rival?

The MG Hector SUV will launch in World during the second half of 2019. Here is everything that you should about this Tata Harrier rival.

MG Motors is all set to launch its first product, a compact SUV in the price range of INR 12 lakh to 18 lakh in World during the second half of the year 2019. This SUV will mark the SIAC owned British automaker’s official arrival in the Worldn market. MG has released a teaser video of its upcoming product recently. In addition to the teaser video, there have been a number of spy shots of this vehicle circulating on the internet.

Taking all of these into consideration, we can clearly see that the MG’s new SUV for the Worldn market, which is going to be called as the Hector, will be quite larger in its dimension in comparison to the competition. By what we know so far, despite the MG hector competing in the same segment as that of the Tata Harrier, it will measure close to that the SUV which falls in the price range of INR 30 lakh, i.e. the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner.

When launched in World, the MG Hector is expected to be priced in-between the price range of INR 12 lakh to INR 18 lakh. With this, its main competition will include the likes of Tata Harrier, the Mahindra XUV 300 and the Jeep Compass. In terms of prices, its base variants will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks as well.

The engine line-up of the MG hector SUV will include petrol as well as diesel powertrain offerings. The petrol unit is going to be a 1.4-litre, Multi-Air engine sourced from Fiat. While the diesel engine is going to be a 2.0-litre unit sourced from Fiat as well. The former is capable of churning out 162 BHP along with 250 Nm of peak torque. The later on the other hand is good for 170 BHP along with 350 nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a manual as well as an automatic option.

Several reports suggest that MG is going to make the Hector a premium offering in its segment. This compact SUV is going to offer an up-market cabin and a whole array of features and creature comforts onboard. Some of the equipment in the feature list will include LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster, Volvo inspired vertical infotainment system, leather upholstery to name a few.

As we have seen with other offerings in the premium compact SUV space, the MG Hector is also expected to offer some pretty decent safety equipment as well. We expect that this SUV should offer multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, ESP, Hill Assist and other active, as well as passive safety features.
