Skoda Auto India achieves over 1 lakh unit sales in two years
Skoda Auto India has maintained its sales pace, selling over 100,000 vehicles in the previous two years. This also corresponds with the relaunch of Skoda's India 2.0 project, which is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 IN architecture, which was created exclusively for the Indian market.
The Czech manufacturer launched two vehicles as part of the India 2.0 program: the Kushaq and the Slavia. Aside from these two vehicles, Skoda also sells the Kodiaq, a luxury D-segment SUV that is available in India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) variant.
Skoda Auto India sold 48,755 vehicles last year. This comes on the heels of a record-breaking year in 2022 when the business sold 53,721 vehicles. While the new debuts of the Kushaq and Slavia established records in Q3 2021 and Q1 2022, the year 2023 saw the firm further improve its goods, with the Kodiaq also reporting a 100 percent increase over 2022 and an all-time high yearly sales volume. India is an important market for Skoda Auto, as well as one of the largest outside of Europe.
Speaking on the same, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India said, "It was extremely important for us to maintain our momentum through 2023 after the record-high of 2022. Our efforts in 2023 focussed on consolidating our position by continuous enhancements across our product range, widening our network and improving the quality in sales and after-sales for more satisfied customers, connected through our Human Touch philosophy to cater to all our customer's needs."
Skoda India's range now consists of three vehicles: the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq. Having said that, the Skoda Octavia RS and Skoda Enyaq iV are likely to make their way to our shores. We also anticipate the Czech automaker introducing facelifted versions of the Kushaq-Slavia combo, as well as a few MY24 (model year) tweaks to keep things new.
