Tata Punch EV to most likely be unveiled tomorrow: What should you expect?
After multiple spy shots at different locations across the country, Tata seems all set to add another EV to its portfolio tomorrow and from the looks of it, we anticipate it will be the long-awaited Tata Punch EV. It will be the homegrown brand's fourth all-electric offering, following the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and the very popular Nexon EV. Tata will be making a few cosmetic changes to this EV over its ICE counterpart, so let's take a look at what we should expect from tomorrow's grand unveiling.
Tata Punch EV: Powertrain and Range
Getting straight into it, let's discuss the powertrain. The specifications of the Tata Punch EV are unknown. However, based on the example set by other Tata EVs, you should expect both Medium and Long Range, comparable to the Tiago EV.
The upcoming Punch EV will get Tata's second-gen electric motor from the Nexon EV facelift and a battery pack. So we assume the two battery packs will be between 25kWh and 35kWh. With this, it may offer a range between 350-375km.
Tata Punch EV: Exterior and Interior
The Tata Punch EV has minor design changes from the existing model. It sports a reworked grille, updated bumpers with altered headlight housing, and other EV-specific characteristics such as a full-width light bar. It also has new alloy wheels and rear disc brakes, which were seen in multiple spy shots.
The Tata Punch EV test mule has been spotted previously with a huge freestanding display on the centre console. This device is most likely a 10.25-inch screen, which debuted on the Nexon EV last year. Other interior changes include an electronic parking brake, a redesigned rotary dial that serves as the gear selector, and an armrest for front-row passengers. The redesigned two-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo might also be available.
Tata Punch EV: Prices and Bookings
The Punch EV's costs, which we believe will start around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), will most likely be announced later this month. Bookings are scheduled to begin shortly, and information on the range, power statistics, and features will be released when the vehicle makes its formal appearance.
